Shattered to Beauty

Have you ever seen or made art made of broken tiles or glass? In my art class in high school, I did a project on mosaic art, and it was a process. But what was impressive was how a bunch of broken tiles can make a beautiful piece of art. When I was reading the story of Joseph, I was reminded of mosaic art. Joseph’s life was constantly being shattered to pieces. He had been through; the painful death of his mother, jealous resentment of his brothers, betrayal and abandonment by his family, the humiliation of slavery, and false accusation and imprisonment. Yet, God made something beautiful with all the broken pieces of his life. God reversed the hostility of Joseph’s brothers into blessing and overruled their wickedness by making Joseph ruler of Egypt, saving Egypt and his family from famine. You may feel like your life, marriage, career, or heart has been shattered into a million pieces, but God takes the shattered lives and rebuilds them for His glory into something beautiful. Just have faith, trust the process and like Joseph, stand your ground, and never give up or turn against God. He will use the broken pieces of your life and turn them into something beautiful!

Prayer:

Thank you, God, for who you are. Thank you for every trial and tribulation, for they produce perseverance, character, and hope. Help me when I start to focus on the broken pieces rather than your goodness, for you are ALWAYS good. Enable me to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in ALL circumstances because this is YOUR will for me in Christ Jesus. For your honor and glory, I pray, amen.
