For those of you who are following Christ at one point or another, you’ve probably noticed that your friends outside of the faith begin to feel uncomfortable around you and, at times, may even accuse you of being judgmental when you try sharing the good news with them. You’ll also notice that some people just leave your side for good because they want nothing to do with your new lifestyle because, for them, you bring an “aroma of death." But on the other hand, others will be attracted to you for the same reasons others detest you. If you’ve received Christ and baptism in the Holy Spirit, that same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you and brings an “aroma that brings life” to other believers, drawing them near.
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?” (2 Corinthians 2:15-16 NIV)
Lord I thank you for your life giving fragrance and to those who detest it and perceive it as a fragrance of death I ask Lord that you would soften their hearts and strategically place people in their lives that can bring them closer to you Father. That they too could smell the aroma that brings life and be filled with your Holy Spirit. Meet every single person who reads this prayer right now where they are Jesus to the believer and unbeliever alike. We pray these things in the name of Christ Jesus, Amen!
