Have you ever believed the names, lies, and bullying others or yourself has given you? I know I have. When I was a kid, I believed the lie of being ugly, unloved, and unwanted. As an adult, there are moments I believe and even declare myself as antisocial with social anxiety because I am more of an introvert. But every time I have moments like these, I think back of Genesis 17:15-22. When God gives Sarai a new name, she went from Sarai, meaning princess, to Sarah, a princess of many. She was given the name and identity of “princes of many” before she was even pregnant. The same way God gives us a new identity way before we see it, believe it, or overcome it. He renames the addicted to free, the broken to restored, the orphan to “child of mine,” the one who lives in fear, courageous, the one who feels alone and unloved, He calls wanted and chosen. The one who has been abused and used He calls worthy and loved. What name are you listening to, believing, or declaring? Is it the name God has given you or the one that has followed you since you were a kid? It is time for you to believe the name and identity God has given you. Stop believing the lies the world, enemy, or yourself may tell you. You CAN do all things through Christ. You ARE loved, free, forgiven, chosen, accepted, anointed, redeemed, saved, and blessed.
Prayer:
Thank you, God for making me new. Thank you for giving me a new identity in you, through you, and for you, even when I don’t see it. Help me believe and declare your truth over the lies, insecurities, and trauma. Silence the lies of the enemy with your truth. For your honor and glory, in Jesus' name I pray, amen.
