Plant the Seed

1 Corinthians 2-3:9

Have you ever felt the Holy Spirit nudge you to speak or invite a specific person to Christ, but the fear of being inadequate, uneducated, or not having the “right” words stop you? For the longest, I have had a passion for teaching and sharing who God is and what He has to offer. But like Moses, Gideon, and many others in Scripture, I felt as if I could not do the job because of fear, doubt, and insecurities. But reading 1 Corinthians 2 reminds me that we do not need to be theologian scholars or have the Bible memorized from Genesis to Revelation to spread the good news. All we need to know is Jesus. The Holy Spirit will give us the words we need. He who is in you wants to work through you. So allow yourself and start to take steps to be used for God and by God. Do not allow your fear, doubt, or insecurity quiet the Spirit. You have been called to plant seeds, and you will see the harvest in time.

For the honor and glory of God, a couple of years ago, someone messaged me on social media asking if they could call me. We had mutual friends, but I never knew or met this person, but they told me they wanted to share their testimony. He called me, telling me I used to talk to him about God through Facebook, and if I am being honest, I don’t even remember those moments. But he never forgot, and the seed that was planted, slowly but surely, grew. He told me how he got saved, and now he and his dad go out to the streets to spread the gospel. A couple of weeks ago, one of my old friends messaged me on social media, sharing how I told him to pray because God is listening; again, this was years ago, and I don’t really remember the conversation. I invited him to church, and by the grace of God, I see how God is growing the seed that was once planted. I did not need education or big fancy words to spread the gospel or invite someone to church. You don’t either. Talk to your friends, neighbors, family, and those around you about who God is. Don’t worry or get discouraged by their response. Your job is to plant the seed, God will send others to water it, but God is the one who makes it grow. I want to challenge you today, find three people to plant the seed, invite them to church, talk about Christ, or pray with them. Allow yourself to be used.

Prayer:

Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for me. Thank you for your precious gift. Help me spread your word to those around me. Remove any fear, anxiety, doubt, or insecurity. Use me however you wish. Enable me to speak up and pray for those in need. Anoint the words I speak that it may be You speaking through me. That they may not remember my name, my title, or who I am but that they remember and see YOU in me. That YOUR name is the one they praise, honor, and run to. For your honor and glory, in Jesus’ name, I pray.
