Luke 4:1-13
How many times has the question or statement of "if" had you or someone you know fall into temptation? As a teenager, "if" was the biggest peer pressure push. As if the statement IF had a super power. "IF you're not scared, you'll ____." "IF you love me, you'll ___." "IF you want to be my friend you'll___." The tactic of IF was the tactic the devil used on Jesus. Luke 4:1-13 is the narrative of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness. Three times, the devil tried to have Jesus fall by saying "IF you..." "IF you are the Son of God..." and three times Jesus claps back with "IT IS..." He silenced the doubt of "if" with the truth of "it is". What areas of your life do you need to silence lies for truth? Is it the lie of "IF only I was good enough?" Is it the lie of "IF only I knew how?" Is it the lie of "IF only I was qualified?" Or is it the lie of others that keep replaying in your head? Whatever it is, God has given you the same authority to silence those lies with his truth. YOU ARE loved and worth more than rubies. The Holy Spirit IS your helper. YOU CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens you. YOU ARE chosen, and He qualifies the called. If you want doubt to leave your mind and heart, let go of the "if's" in your life and speak truth.
Prayer:
Thank you, Jesus, for setting the example and giving us the answer. Thank you, for speaking life into my life, and giving me the gift of your Word. Help me and remind me of all truths you have spoken. Rebuke the lies of the enemy and let YOUR words shout louder than the lies. Remove all the "if's" in my life and replace them with your truth. Use me to speak and declare the truth, not only over my own life but the life of others. I ask this for your honor and glory in your name Jesus. Amen.
