Be Quiet

 Mark 10:46-52

Have you ever gotten so lost in a song that you don't realize how loud you were singing? It has happened way too many times for me. Where people around me would ask "who sings that song?" and as soon as I give them the name of the artist or band they tell me to keep it that way. Mark 10:46-52 tells us about Bartimaeus, a blind man sitting on the side of the road begging, crying out to Jesus to have mercy on him. The crowd that was with Jesus passed him by rebuking him and telling him to be quiet. Which is interesting to me because many other times in Scripture we read about people bringing the sick to Jesus. But when it came to Bartimaeus, no one helped him. No one took him to Jesus. Instead, they looked down on him and tried to shut him up. Sadly, there are times when people who need Jesus are looked down on or pushed away by those who are following Jesus. But that did not stop, discourage, or pushed Bartimaeus away. When they rebuked him and tried to keep him quiet, he shouted even louder (v48). That's when Jesus stopped and called him. This makes me wonder how many people have to just shout a little louder. Rather than wait to be seen, or to be taken to Jesus, just shout a little louder. Ignore the voices and people around you telling you to be quiet, to give up, to move on. It was Bartimaeus faith in Jesus that healed him. Have that same faith to continue to call out to Jesus, even when the Drs say there's no hope. Even when your marriage seems like it's about to fall apart. Shout a little louder. Don't allow anything or anyone stop you from calling out to Jesus.

Prayer

Thank you Jesus for being available and hearing my cry even when the chaos around me seems to be louder. Forgive me for being silent when I am told to be quiet by the circumstances around me. Silence the lies of the enemy that try's to silence me. I love you Lord. I praise you, for you alone are holy. You alone are worthy.
